ExamAI TeamCongratulations, Class of 2024!
You've made it through the Leaving Cert exams, and now it's time to review your results and consider your next steps. We know this can be an exciting but nerve-wracking time, so we've put together this guide to help you navigate the process of viewing your scripts and potentially appealing your grades.
Accessing Your Marks
First things first, you'll be able to see your written exam marks (both component and final) on the candidate self-service portal from Tuesday, August 27th at 12 pm. This is your first chance to see how you've done, so make sure to log in and check your results!
Script Viewing: Your Options
If you want to take a closer look at your exam scripts, you have two options:
- In-person viewing: This is for scripts marked on paper.
- Online viewing: For scripts marked digitally.
To apply for either option, you need to submit your request between Tuesday, August 27th at 5 pm and Wednesday, August 28th at 8 pm. Don't miss this window!
In-Person Viewing Sessions
If you're viewing paper scripts at your school, you'll be allocated one of these sessions: - Saturday, August 31st: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm - Saturday, August 31st: 2 pm - 5 pm
Online Viewing
For digital scripts, you'll have a 24-hour window from Saturday, August 31st at 9 am to Sunday, September 1st at 9 am.
The Appeals Process
If you decide to appeal your results after viewing your scripts, here's what you need to know:
- Application window: Sunday, September 1st at 10 am to Monday, September 2nd at 5 pm
- Cost: €40 per subject (refunded if successful)
- Script viewing is free
Top Tips for Reviewing Your Scripts
- Make sure your marks were added up correctly!
- Bring someone who knows the subject (your teachers might be there - use them!)
- Use all the time you have
- Bring a copy of the marking scheme
- It's important to know how the grading system and percentage bands work when reviewing your results. If you are right on the edge of the next grade it might be more worthwhile to appeal. For a reminder check out the CAO website.
Appealing is definitely worth considering if you think there might be an issue with your marking.
Additional Options to Consider
- Keep an eye on further CAO rounds – you might receive new offers as places become available
- Check the CAO website on August 29th at 12 noon for the 'available places' facility
Stay Positive and Keep Moving Forward
No matter what your results are, remember that this is just one step in your educational journey. Every experience is a chance to learn and grow. If you're disappointed, take some time to process your feelings, but don't lose sight of your goals. There are always multiple paths to success!
If you need any advice or support during this time, don't hesitate to reach out to your teachers, guidance counselors, or trusted mentors. They're there to help you make the best decisions for your future.
