The literary-extract comprehension task (Section I, Comprehension 2): an extract from a novel or short story, assessed differently from the journalistic text, students demonstrate understanding by making points in English justified with quotations from the text. Kept as a distinct strand because the literary comprehension is an always-present, separately-taught, separately-marked sub-task (Studyclix and the textbooks treat literary comprehension technique separately from journalistic comprehension). Members are the text-TYPE markers that identify a passage as literary. Coverage: ~20 tag occurrences across the literary text-type markers.
